Michael Schumacher took his 64th victory today when he took the chequered flag at the Suzuka circuit ahead of his teammate Rubens Barrichello.
Only ten drivers finished the race and only Ferrari had two cars still in the race, but the highlight of the afternoon was definitely Jordan driver Takuma Sato who took his first points of the season with a fifth placed finish! The Japanese fans went wild after the young rookie crossed the line, and his excitement at the outcome was catching.
Kimi Raikkonen was third for McLaren after teammate David Coulthard was forced to retire early in the race. Juan Pablo Montoya crossed the line in fourth to secure his third place in the drivers championship after Ralf Schumacher retired with a blown BMW engine.
Jenson Button, a lap down, was the final point scorer of the afternoon. Ferrari ended the season with a massive 221 points, another new record. Michael's total points haul for the year was also another record. This latest one-two also makes Rubens and Michael the most successful duo in history. Schumacher has also finished every race this year on the podium.
