Red Bull Racing this morning unveiled the new Renault-powered RB5 challenger that the team hope will be a step forward from the 2008 package which propelled the Milton Keynes-based team to seventh in the championship.

On hand for the unveiling of the new car in Spain, were Sebastian Vettel and Mark Webber who will both test the new car this week at Jerez. Vettel will conduct the initial two days of running, before Webber takes over on Wednesday – his first test since breaking his leg in a cycling accident last year.

The FIA has permitted Renault to work on the RS27 powerplant in order to try and create a more level playing field, despite the current ‘freeze’ on development remaining in place for its rivals. This is however a ‘one-off’ opportunity for Renault to improve the powerplant.

"This is a much bigger team," Vettel explained on his move from Toro Rosso to Red Bull. "The important thing for me is to know who the key people are for me to work with and that integration process has been going well over the winter."

"I don’t feel under any more pressure than last year, I just plan to keep learning and to keep pushing myself," he continued. "I do think the big changes to the rules could help teams like ours close up on the front runners, but I expect Ferrari and McLaren to be favourites again this year.”
